Heels at Elevate dance center
Feel Powerful. Move boldly. celebrate you.

What is a Heels class you ask?
I’m glad you asked! A heels class can mean a lot of things to different people and depends a lot on your instructor and their own personal style.
Here at Elevate Dance Center, you can expect a 60-90 minute class of movement and guided choreography in heeled shoes (optional for true beginners) that blends musicality, posture, sensuality and CONFIDENCE. We focus on:

  • Clean foundations - how to walk with technique, weight transfer, lines

  • Musicality and timing

  • Floorwork options (with modifications always offered)

  • Confidence coaching - how to get out of your head and enjoy your body. Presence, eye line, and performance mindset - all with the goal of celebrating YOU.

Why We are Offering It:

Heels is a space to reclaim confidence, play with style and feel incredible in your body - at any size, shape, or experience level. Expect a supportive, hype-each-other-up vibe with clear technique and safe progressions.

Elyse (your instructor)’s Story

For years, I’ve poured my heart into partner dancing—Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba. I love the magic of two people creating something together, but there’s always been a piece missing. Partner dance is about connection with another person; heels has been calling me to find connection with myself.

We live in a world that constantly tells us we’re not enough. Social media bombards us with impossible beauty standards—perfectly curated bodies, flawless faces, endless comparisons. We scroll and start to believe the story that we shouldn’t take up space, that we’re not “good enough” to dance, that confidence and sensuality belong to other women.

But the truth? That couldn’t be further from reality.

I am surrounded by motivated, resilient women who want to feel good in their skin. Women who don’t want to wait for a partner to dance. Women who are tired of being told they’re too much—or not enough. Women who have endured loss, divorce, illness. Who have carried and raised children, who have watched their bodies grow, stretch, scar, and shift. Who may have forgotten how to love and appreciate their bodies for all they’ve carried them through.

This class is for you.

Heels is about rewriting the story. It’s not about performing for an audience or competing with an image on a screen. It’s about reclaiming your body, your power, and your joy. It’s about choosing to celebrate yourself in the skin you’re in right now—not some “after” version.

I want to create a space where beauty isn’t measured by comparison, but by authenticity. Where sexy isn’t about fitting a mold, but about owning your energy. Where every woman is encouraged to be unapologetically herself—to move boldly, take up space, and know she’s not alone.

This is more than choreography. It’s a community of women who will stand beside you, hype you up, and remind you of the truth: you are enough, you are worthy, and you absolutely deserve to dance.

Heels Class Gear Guide

You don’t need to buy anything fancy to start—but the right shoes and a pair of knee pads can make your experience way more fun (and safe). Below are some tried-and-true options I love.

When it comes to choosing a shoe - don’t go too high! 4” heels are for the pros. Start with 3” or less and focus on choosing a shoe that is adjustable, has strong ankle support and allows foot flexibility. Shoes can be plastic bottom or suede - your choice. I have linked several options below - Yami & Burju come at a higher price tag and are an investment.

Starter heels from Amazon are fine if you just want to try class out. But as with most things, you get what you pay for. If you plan to stick with heels long-term, investing in quality dance shoes is worth it for your feet, your balance, and your overall experience.

Knee pads are a must for floorwork days—they protect your joints, let you slide safely, and keep the focus on dancing instead of bruises.
